near the fun house is the 'tunnel of love.' due to the climate change, the ice has melted into water, and thick grasses and vines have grown in the water and hang from above. it's quite a mess and hard to get through, if you can't swim, anyway. one of the four boats still works and sits in the middle of the tunnel, stuck in the reeds, the others lie ashore, upside down for shelter.

Sub-board: operation room||

the bearded lady, strong man, wolfman, and the eight-legged lady, all of them once performer here live to audiences in this rickety little building. worn, faded red theater seating covers half this room, a wooden stage shrouded by velvety curtains on the other portion. faded posters of the freaks plaster the yellowed walls, blank, staring faces having been rubbed of their noses and eyes by time. this place is made all the more creepy by its odd lighting, created by tiny beams of light filtering through the thin spots or gaps in the ceiling.

in some of the booths, stuffed animals lay around, scattered, in others the games stay in tact. cheap glass bottles still stand in a pyramid, for the carnival owner had glued them to one another long ago. each booth can serve as a worthy den to anybody, but it's up to you whether or not to stake a claim.

caraselles, ferris wheels, the works. sometimes, a small animal gets into the machines and starts up the fair music. tiny sprigs of grass are popping up through the snow, making good eatings for the foliage-eaters. this place offers little in the way of shelter, but you smaller animals can huddle in the rollercoaster or bumper cars if a blizzard sneaks up on you.

beyond the border of the circus lies this odd little marsh, one like no other. during the day this is a chilly, algae-green marsh, filled with small fish, snakes, crawdads and chunks of melting ice. water-dwelling trees, flowers and reeds have adapted to the temperatures here, and grow at every angle. when the moon comes about, however, thick sheets of ice, hard as tile, form on the surface, giving passage to the land beyond for most animals. but don't let your gaurd down; there are thin spots on this treacherous beauty, no matter how sturdy it may seem.

true to its name, this fairly young cave (having formed around the time of the beginning of the Ice Age) became a lifesaver to many, many animals, and even a few humans. the day that marked the beginning of the Ice Age, the First Storm as it is also known as, all creatures in this cave came together and huddled for warmth, forgetting predatory instincts in a desperate endeavor to save themselves. such a thing is hardly done today, but the memory remains here, in this gray little cave surrounded by the marsh, carved into the cliff-face.. occasionally, on a moonless night, it is said you can see the starlight, dancing across the walls, twirling on the tips of minerals and precious stones.
